Celebration of Literature at Somerset College

25/03/2015
Geoffrey McSkimming and Sue-Anne Webster
Over the years, the Somerset Festival has grown into one of Australia’s most enduring and innovative literary festivals.

The children were given time to explore a variety of market stalls and creative writing activities scattered across the festival.  They were also able to purchase books and have them signed by the authors.

Our students were  involved in the author workshops and attended sessions with Geoffrey McSkimming, Sue-Anne Webster, Scott Prince and Dave Hartley.

Geoffrey McSkimming presented the Phyllis Wong mysteries at Somerset with his favourite magician, Sue-Anne Webster. Not only is Sue-Anne one of the world’s leading magicians, she is also the inspiration behind Phyllis Wong! Together with Geoffrey McSkimming, Sue-Anne Webster brought magic from the magician, Sue-Anne Webster. Not only is Sue-Anne one of the world’s leading magicians, she is also the inspiration behind Phyllis Wong! Together with Geoffrey McSkimming, Sue-Anne Webster brought magic from the Phyllis Wong mysteries to life on stage in a fun, lively and dazzling performance.

Scott Prince and Dave Hartley introduced the children to their book ‘Deadly D and Justice Jones’ and gave them a sneak preview of the next book that will be released this year.   The children enjoyed listening to the author’s personal stories about the inspiration behind the book and how their ideas came about.  The children were inspired by the football star Scott Prince and Hartley’s talk and enjoyed listening to some tips on how to become a good writer.
