Tournament of Minds State Finals

Last Sunday, Mitchel, Chloe, Ben, Blaize, Vanessa, Eden and Daniel competed in the State finals for Tournament of Minds in the Applied Technology Discipline.  Students and parents arrived at Griffith University at 7.45am Sunday morning to register and by 9am they were ‘locked’ in a room for 3 hours to prepare a solution for a complex challenge.  Later that day, teams presented their solution to an audience and judges in a university lecture theatre.  The TOM teams also participated in an unseen Spontaneous Challenge on Tournament Day. This challenge required rapid interchange of ideas and the ability to think creatively. The team did an exceptional job and should be commended on their commitment, efforts, dedication and achievement.  All the skills they have developed over the past 3 months including, working as a team, effective problem-solving, thinking outside the square and the use of technology are values that employers are searching for in the employee of tomorrow. They did not win the tournament but are all winners in my eyes!
