Year 2 Sciencentre Excursion

11/05/2015

When we arrived the students had a quick snack and were sorted into groups. We visited The Body Zone where we could challenge, move and confuse our bodies with visual illusions and hands on experiences. The Action Stations showed us that Science is everywhere – at home, school, work and play and we could discover how our bodies worked.

The next stop was the Show Zone which featured The Balloon Show. This was an exciting and interactive show that explored how a simple everyday object like a balloon could be used to demonstrate scientific concepts.

Then it was on to the Humanoid Discovery area where we could take a look at the human body from a different perspective. Students could lie on a Bed of Nails and test their pain receptors, see their shrinking pupils with their own eyes and discover interesting facts about their bodies.

After the Sciencentre visit we went upstairs to the Museum to investigate animals, artefacts, historical events and objects from the past and present.

What an exciting, entertaining and informative day we all had at the Sciencentre and Museum. No wonder the students, parents and teachers were exhausted at the end of the day!
